VClass is an open source web conference developed by Distributed Education Center, a subunit of Internet Education and Research Laboratory (intERLab) at Asian Insitutute of Technology (AIT). Initially, it was used to for virtual learning network to provide channels for seamless education, teaching, training, conferencing, lectures under the name of AVIST. The development of VClass was initially started in 1998 with support from Royal Thai Government funding. It is specifically designed for delivering on-line courses by three different methods - through "virtual classroom learning", "virtual class on schedule" and "virtual class on demand". Vclass provides real-time services for E-learning such as video/audio conferencing, instant messaging and sharing course materails, etc.

System Requirement

VClass can simply opertate on web browser without any required sofware installation.

Start Using VClass

Video/Audio Conference

Multiple participants can join virtual classroom or engange with collaborative conference with high definition (HD) video and audio. However, the quality of video and audio may be effected by poor Internet connection.

Whiteboard

Collaborative whiteboard is also integrated on VClass. All participants including instructors can simultaneously draw on the white canvas and eveyone in the room will be able to see the same drawing.

Sharing Presentation

VClass comes witht the shared presentation feature where the slide materail can be synchronously presensted to all participants. The presenter can click the “Actions” icon to choose the slide to be uploaded from the local drive. The presenter may allow the patcipants downloading their slides by checking the checkbox for downloading.

Sharing External Video

An external VDO from internet can be also shared on VClass during the conference. Currently, YouTube, Vimeo, Instructure Media, Twitch and Daily Motion URLs are supported. The presenter can click the “Actions” icon and choose share an external video while placing the video URL.

Voting

The voting feature is also embeded on VClass that ask participants questions with a specific set of answers. When participants respond trhough ther popup message, the presenster can simultaneously track the answer and export summary result to the whiteboard.

Instant Messaging

Instanat message or chat can be sent in one-to-one (private chat) or with the entire group (public chat). Messages will reach all the online participants of the class room. The chat box are placed on the left side of VClass window while each user can choose public or private chat.
